A girl I know from uni was looking into the idea of offering cheaper tickets to students new to the city to try and entice them down to St Andrews. Not sure how far she got with it, but I'll see if I can find out.

She was definitely getting in touch with the club about it.

viler have been marketing HARD recently. they've got an massive adboard up around UCE/One Stop about buying tickets for the Man City game.

plus they had adverts on buses about season tickets previously.

what is OUR marketing department doing in these hard times?

i think we should dot ticket vendors all around the city next to bustops or something to make buying tickets more accessible.

we need to do SOMETHING. i don't think i've EVER seen a Blues adboard. all we seem to do is put ads in newspapers.

we need to let people know Birmingham City FC is STILL here. :(

So BCFC are not the only club suffering with falling attendances then.

this despite having a multi millioniare owner, the best ,manager the club has ever had. shocking

To be fair Blues do give students a good discount on the normal prices, they just don't advertise it.

The point they are making Willie - before your sarcasm - was that other clubs may be suffering.
But one club, owned by a multi-millionaire is actually doing some constructive marketing, doing some new and novel advertising. Which will auger well for their future sales.

The fact that they have the "best manager the club has ever had" is so beside the point that it is farcical. Is O'Neil - in your mind - responsible for marketing?
Or does the presence of "the best manager"...not require marketing?
In which case Blues should be SOLD OUT every week according to your posts.

Can we have less of the sarcasm Willie, and lets just discuss the points?

First of all it was not sarcasm. more ironic, the fact is the Vile have now got a new manager, a new owner which they have been calling for, for many years and they still cannot sell out.

Constructive marketing, new and novel advertising. anyone driving through Perry Barr for the last 2 or so years will tell you that the billboard advertising of match tickets by the vile is nothing new.

why is being "best manager the club has ever had" beside the point ? if you actually talk to vile fans they will tell you exactly that.

Do you not think that Lerner has based his future statergy on O'niell's management skills.

Do you think that the vile marketing dept have totally ignored the fact that their club has him as manager?

besides BCFC do advertise do they not, I beleive they take full page ads in the Birmingham mail. of course its debatable as to to which form of advertising has the most impact.........

There are also the mail shots through the post and their is always
here
http://www.blues.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Home...~842985,00.html

the thing that all this advertising highlights is that attendances for the 3 clubs in this area are down.

As for your other commments. I have had a quick look but i am sorry but i cannot find any post of mine where i have ever said "Bruce is the best manager the club as ever had"
maybe you could point them out for me??

Blues could not fill the ground most matches when we were in the Prem, so why do people think Blues are going to fill the ground now?

last week we had a thread moaning about the club trying to convince fans to come to the ground though email... whilsts many moaned about this... like many said this is just another marketing tool and a very good idea!

blues already offer a good deal to students! what they should do is promote it more... but I'm sure a few on here would just kick em in the googlies, and moan like hell any way
